15.1 Intro

You are now beginning to work through some of the more technical, hard skill modules included in this program. These include SQL, Python, and—later on—Tableau. If you are new to these skills, please be prepared to invest more time and effort than usual as you progress through these modules.

This curriculum includes these carefully selected topics because the hiring managers we consulted believe these topics will help you prove to potential employers that you are both tech savvy and data driven. Python is considered by many to be the best coding language for PMs to start with.

Do all product managers need to know SQL, Python, and Tableau? No, they don't. In fact, many PMs are not experts on these tools. That's because people become product managers in many different ways, and they may have other skills or backgrounds. But PMcademy's research suggests that knowing even a little bit of coding will help you stand out from other candidates, especially if you are coming in with little technical experience.

However, it is very normal to get stuck when first learning difficult technical topics like these, and it will take some time for you to understand them fully. Remember, you have a team of experts and a whole community of peers at PMcademy to help you as you go. You've got support, and you can do this!
